CNC Machinist/Programmer (Chilliwack)


Shift Type: 4/10's Monday-Thursday Day Shift.


Job Description:

The successful candidate must have strong skills setting, operating & programming CNC lathes & mills for short runs of high precision components. Our growing shop has late model machinery and operates in a professional and organized manner.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Journeyman CNC Machinist.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience setting up and operating CNC lathe & mill.
  • Minimum of 3 years programming CNC Lathe & Mill using CAD/CAM software.
  • Positive attitude, quality workmanship, attention to detail, good problem solving.
  • Must be organized, neat, punctual and safety conscious
  • Must have good time management.
  • Haas or GibbsCAM experience an asset.
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with Excel an asset.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Program and  operate CNC lathe or milling machine with minimal supervision.
- Plan new jobs – specify tooling and processes required to take jobs from start to finish.
- Complete setup sheets documenting work.
- Assist other machinists with programming & problem solving.

Skill set requirements are: hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems. Basic electrical knowledge is an asset. Ability to read and interpret schematics and shop drawings. Skilled in use of power tools associated with heavy equipment assembly.

Driller / Trainer (International):

Sonic Drill Corporation, the world-leading designer and manufacture of Sonic drill rigs is currently seeking a experienced Sonic Driller to conduct customer training programs. We offer training packages to new Sonic customers and also drilling supervision on large scale drilling programs. The ideal candidate will be professional, interpersonal and comfortable interacting with customers and drilling staff. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience operating Sonic drills in a variety of drilling applications and geological ground conditions. Our main markets are environmental, geotechnical, exploration and geothermal. The candidate will also have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform service and repairs to Sonic equipment in the field. Must have a willingness to learn and quickly understand the technical aspects of our product. International travel and long working days are a large component of this position. We support equipment on every continent around the world. Training programs are typically 1-2 weeks in length. Occasionally some remote projects can be 1 month in duration. Training programs typically accompany a new capital sale. During times when training programs are not scheduled, the candidate will be required to mechanically assemble and service equipment at our manufacturing plant in Chilliwack, BC. This is a full time position with company benefits package.

The successful candidate must have strong skills in mechanical equipment design and hydraulic systems relating specifically to heavy mobile equipment applications.

 

Sonic Drill Systems Inc. has an opening for a Mechanical Design/Drafting Technologist, with a minimum of 2 - 3 years experience in a post graduate engineering design office and manufacturing facility.  The right applicant will be proficient in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD with a good knowledge of ANSI/CSA design drafting standards and practices.  They will also have a reasonable working knowledge of the MS suite of software products.  Familiarity with engineering change procedures and with good problem solving abilities coupled with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment is desired.  This person shall be well organized and not be afraid to do the mundane tasks along with the more involved requirements of engineering design.  Knowledge of and/or understanding of basic machining, manufacturing, production and assembly processes and practices would be considered a great asset.  Both verbal and written fluency of the English language is imperative.  This is an entry level position and will lead to personal growth within the company for a person who is hard working and conscientious.  Sonic Drill offers an excellent compensation and benefits plan.
